Guide on Writing

His guide on what to write about was simple: “It was because I got annoyed wth something.”

So said David M. Dorsen in his judicial biography Henry Friendly, Greatest Judge of His Era. I’d hardly think that Judge Friendly was alone in finding motivation in the spring well of irritation for his writing. What about you? Would you say that that getting annoyed with something — somebody else’s writing, media coverage of an issue, other people’s behavior, etc. — is a reason for many, even if not all, of your textual output?
